Whoa, Nellie!

There is a horse boarding facility just down the street from our house (Arrowhead Stables) that had a fun little party-thingy on Saturday, and Ollie got to ride a pony! He was super nervous, (I am not sure if it was the horse or the stranger that led the horse around the corral that weirded him out), but he got brave, chose his horse, and went for it! His horse was named Taffy, which Ollie really liked. Avery also enjoyed watching the horses, but liked these little Austrailian Shephard puppies that someone was selling there even more. After the horse riding fun, Ryan came over and Avery cuddled up to him while we watched the Jazz game.

Sushi Date

Carrera came over yesterday for a little sushi date. I hadn't made sushi in about a year, so my rolling skills were a little rusty, but we made it through. Oliver tasted it for the first time. He kept an open mind, chewed the piece up and swallowed it, and then decided he didn't like it. Very good sport! Carrera was a great sushi chef too - made her first roll and it looked perfect! Don't you hate it when beginners do a better job than you?!

New Baby

It was 1:30 when the call came in last Thursday. Jed knew exactly what he had to do, and raced to Ogden. When he saw it, it was love at first sight. He looked at the little marvel and thought to himself, "I'll never let anything bad happen to you." We had finally found the perfect addition to our family: the Super Cub.

As special as the Super Cub was to us, we knew in a heartbeat that Ryan needed one too. To thank him for his help on the house ( a little late, we know) Jed brought home two of the planes. The look on his face when he saw it was awesome! He had thought he was coming over to help change the car brakes. The look on his face when they finally got the planes airborne was even better. It was fun to see two grown men get so excited and nervous all at the same time!

Playdate

We got together with a couple of friends on Friday fo a fun little playdate. My friend Nicole, and her kids Presley and Kowhen, as well as my friend Mandy and her little boy Wyatt, came over for lunch and some goo hard playing. The kids had a blast, and the adults got to catch up with each other.

After Party

Everyone knows that there is an after party following the Academy Awards and The Grammy's, but did you know there was an after party to Easter? Neither did I, but Oliver informed me of it Sunday night when we were getting ready for bed. He had planned out an entire party in his head for the following day which continued on with many Easter festivities we had not yet experienced. Here is, verbatim, what he had on the agenda:
"We will have an Easter tree that we will decorate with Eggs, and there will be lots of treats and we will play lots of games and toys, and eat Lasagna."
So what did we do? We went along with it! He is such an adorable kid and it was a blast. We ended up bringing up one the smaller Christmas trees to be decorated with eggs, played an egg matching game, did a little bunny craft, and ate lasagna (thanks for the dinner idea Oliver!) and lots of treats. Tonight when we put him to bed he had more ideas for another party, so who knows, tomorrow may hold the after party to the after party!

Easter, cont.

The rest of our Easter weekend was great. We were awakened by our cute little four year old jumping up and down in the doorway of our bedroom, unable to stop jumping or hold in his excitement in any way. He told us he "woke up in the middle of the night and looked out the window to see if there were any Easter toe prints in the driveway, but didn't see any." I love that he said toe prints! Of course we had to wake Avery up so she wouldn't miss out on the Easter Bunny's egg hunt. Oliver was quite surprised to find the Easter Bunny hid peeps under his bed...that bunny is pretty sneaky! We then had brunch with my family, then another egg hunt, fishing for prizes, and delicious hamburgers at Grandma Sharma's and Grandpa Jim's. Oliver loves the velcro ball and mit set (mitten set as he says) he got there too - we've been playing with it non-stop!

Easter fun has begun!

We decided to just make a weekend of it and celebrate Easter for 2 days instead of one. This morning we went to the Barnes park egg hunt, which was over in a flash but quite enjoyable. This was the first year that Oliver was in the "big boy" group and went out in search of eggs without a parent in tow. Jed stayed close by while I took Avery over to the little person egg hunt on the adjacent field. She had no clue what was going on, but was happy to find a lollipop in the grass! We then came home and decorated some sugar cookies we had cut out and baked yesterday. You'll notice in the pictures that things got a little out of hand. I wish I could say that the frosting mustaches we are sporting were Oliver's idea, but sadly, they were not. In fact, he was the only voice of reason. More posts to come after tomorrow's celebration.
